But Ian is it not only better, but as fast than the above mentioned on a b road? the MT01 and perhaps the z750 maybe (although one has very good suspension and the other is well flickable), but the others would naturally leave it for dead if they wanted.

I've not ridden either, so couldn't possibly say...

The rider is usually what decides how fast/slow/rideable a bike is imo

As I said, "given the same talent in the seat", so you actually believe a rsv or Brutale aren't fast than a Versys? seriously....

Or are you saying your fellow Versys owner above has somewhat naff ridding buddies then.....

sorry, tired... missed the same talent same seat bit

On a pure power basis, they're obviously going to be faster generally, potentially on twisties not very much faster though

, set the parameters up right (as in a certain magazine) and you could possibly be close to right there, but then it was intimated it was as good, not nearly as good, I think some folks actually read to much into that article.

Cheers Mark.

It's not marketed as an adventure bike, it's a versatile tall-roader. If you'd ever ridden one you'd see why they make perfect sense on Britain's roads. You get the advantages of a decent enough fairing, a nice relaxed riding position and long travel suspension that can cope with the pre-disastered roads we have to put up with. Couple that lot to handling that lets it keep up with a lot of sportier bikes and the ability to carry stupid amounts of luggage safely, and then look at how cheap it is to buy and run and you've got the perfect bike. Having said that, taking my Versys up gravelly tracks and dirt roads is so much easier than taking my old SVs, so I wouldn't class it in the same league as a Chelsea tractor.

The other thing to point out is, most Versys are sold to quite tall people - the type of people who'd be crippled on a sports bike of the same capacity

Ok it's ugly, but how you can ever call anything ugly when your own bike has been intimate with more hedges and ditches than buckets of water is beyond me

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Not having a go, but most people we get in our shop don't like the looks of the new ZX6R and ZX10R, they've prefered earlier versions... but you like yours. Horses for courses - I've grown used to the looks of mine now and decided function over form is definitely the way forward, so the aesthetics don't bother me.

The Greeks have only one word to mean both good design and art... did you know that?
