I had a Desire for 18 months and never had an issue with it, time for a factory reset perhaps?

Huge screen you can read electronic books easily, really, really fast, HD screen and Beats Audio is awesome.

And I've already dropped it on the drive and it just bounced!
I do like my Defy which is an older version but still good. Works smooth enough and reliable and with the added bonus of if you drop it, it doesnt matter. The only problem is it is a bit lacking and the Motorola Razr makes it look a wee bit junior.

I dropped the Defy proper and it certainly bounced.but didnt fall apart or scratch the screen. Took a little scratch and dent on the frame but still works perfect. That was mighty impressive toughness.

Agreed sgs2 rocks - love it. Once used to the larger size you'll never go back.. though may not be as pleasurable for smaller hands :-0 def worth an extended test just to make sure but sooooo worth it.
