i agree with andybrad. Everyone on the road is a ****, doesnt matter who or what they're driving. I often scream blue murder at old ladies from the van, whilst they swift across lanes with no sense of direction or consideration of anything outside their car seat

every road user is a ****!

I agree with you Chris, but riding in the gutter and keeping out of the way invites cars to make a close overtake or squeeze you out of the way, as they'll try and get past when there really isnt room to do so safely.

I will take up a defensive position and ride in way the owns my space when I am on my pushbike, its for that reason i.e. I am protecting myself. Its not different to defensive riding techniques on a motorbike.

We should be finding ways to work around each other and be tolerant of other road users, if we could find away to share the road space, we could all go about our business alot faster.

I've had people try to overtake me when I am doing 30mph in a 30mph limit area, then when they realise they cant make it past then they just drift back to the left and try to run me off the road.

I blame the media, its "cool or the done thing" to hate cyclists. So that makes us an acceptable target in many peoples eyes.

Just makes me sad that many people will devalue one persons life, just because of the form of transport they choose to use.

Plus there's a lot of junk in the gutter as well as drainage grills and the like that sit in massive dips to stuff you up.

Respect works both ways.

My cars taxed and insured so is my car.

If I want to ride any of my push bikes on the road I will.
If I needed insurance for it, it would be insured and taxed as appropriate.
Until the day that tax and insurance is needed for cyclists, you will just have to respect their right to use roads without them.

Yep, which was discussed on BBC morning news the other day, between IAM rep & CTC spokesperson.

Yep, and mostly based on city cyclists who don't follow the highway code, jump red lights etc, etc. Which is not the norm

Yep, travel across the Channel and the attitude towards cyclists & motorcyclists is totally different to the blinkered and narrow minded attitude of most UK drivers.

Its also sad that the original posting about one rogue cyclist has developed into another 'lets bash the cyclists' for wanting their piece of tarmac
