I was recently talking to someone about this, and I'm not sure going to University is an economic proposition any more.

Many years ago when I was a student it didn't cost too much, and even in tough times there was a fairly good chance of a job, providing you didn't come out with a third in Basket Weaving. I still didn't earn anything for three years, but that could be recouped fairly quickly if you got a decent job.

This year's intake will leave Uni something like £30k in debt, plus three years without earnings. With so many graduates on the market the salary premium for getting a degree is going be small and it will take a long while to pay back what they spent getting a degree.

Not the easy decision it once was,

I think you're looking at this in completely the wrong way.

You want a job where you get paid to much about with game design,
you're in a job where you get paid to be around computers and appear to have a reasonable amount of free time...

I could be putting two and two together to make three here but it seems to me you should stay in your current job while they pay you to learn about game design while you're supposed to be working.

Easier said than done though when you're working in a secondary school and constantly get nagged for the little things. Plus - were merging with another school in September so I will be dramatically busy with installing the new network and setting up the new equipment

You might have to forgo the bottle of bud, Driving a work van after drinking is a bad idea.

I wouldn't call it a 'bad idea' i would see it more as fun. Even more so because I can't drive a 4 wheeled vehicle.
