All our Blackberry users here are on O2 - they are not impressed. I only qualify for the standard voice phone at my grade and my FD is not impressed that my simple Nokia is unaffected.

9.. NINE.... I was working for said company in question when you bought that. Ah, the days when custom covers and putting whatever ringtone you wanted on your phone were kicking off.

I still remember sitting there at BT Cellnet in Bury (it will ALWAYS be BT Cellnet to me) and getting shouted at for being on busy AGAIN because I was about 8 minutes into pressing 9,8,2,#,#,1,#,5,5,6,5,#,#,5,#,7,4 to get the 'A-team', 'James Bond' or 'Take on me' on my phone....

"I'm sorry sir, all we can tell you is that the BT Cellnet engineers are on site looking in to the issue and we will update our users as soon as we know anything"

Sounds familiar
; )

"I appreciate you bought the handset over 12 months ago and got the IMSI message on the screen on christmas day when your son first turned the phone on but there is nothing we can do for you by way of refund or exchange. I'm very sorry"

Ah, the good old days

Sabina Kelley website. Works wonders

But yes, when I was nine it was my first ever phone and I want it back even to this day. Smartphones have nothing on Nokias.

I'm just wondering if anyone has heard of...Landline.....Fax Machine....Skype.....Email.
The only reason why i'm asking is that the news thinks that o2 going down is a major catastrophic event.
Get real!!

E-mail fair enough. But it's not the same sending somebody an E-mail calling them a co*k now is it

And as for landline, I only know my grandmas and she's not good at banter.*sigh*

I agree, I've just seen something on the web saying "Does O2 (Cellnet) owe you money".

There will be some legitimate cases of this but there will be loads of scallies ringing up asking for compo because they pay for a service they did not receive and are emotionally stressed following the outage. Get a grip, crap happens

LOL sounds fair!

And it is ridiculous people want compensation for it. It went down for half a day! If it was for a few days then maybe because like I said people depend on their phones for work and NEED them but some just are too glued to them (like me) but go over the top.

I thought my phone had been blocked, shat myself.

The problem was with 3G authentication, worked that out this morning.

Fix was to switch off 3G

They didn't go public on that because they don't have the kit to support everyone on 2G at once.

Was someone on the news griping about his business suffering. But surely a business would have a landline...? We all coped perfectly well only twenty odd years ago before these damn things took over our lives!

Couldn't everything just be turned off a few days to see what happens? I mean the horror, people having to write letters, use landlines and meet in person.
