Okay so maybe I was a bit riled there. But let me tell you this. When the original drug dealer lived on our street there was nothing but trouble. Fights almost every w/end, my bike got pushed over and tyres slashed as they could not nick it. Almost every person on our street was affected. My girlfriend had her car driven into by teh dealer himself as he was wasted. This cost us £500 in excess but he was not charged with a thing (failing by police there so seperate issue). Neighbours had their cars/vans broken into, all night parties the works. And the guy had a 3 month old baby. Nice. Ever since that dealer moved it's been nice and quiet. Coincidence? I think not. I have no prob with a bit of weed in your own home, whatever. BUt don't expect to come down my street and do what you want and get away with it. I also take the same view on people who scream down our residential road at 40-50 mph in a car or on a bike. I'm sure you would feel the same if it was your street.

No mate. I completely agree.
Having any ignorant people on your street is a massive pain. And, I dont like dudes all the time trying to sell me gear, an I got well stroppy with some lad a while back. (I start thinking I must look like a junky ![]() |

It is quite feasible for a small volume of cannabis to induce a paranoia that would take far more alcohol and a hell of a lot of cigarettes to induce the same result. Which makes it a fundamental misconception that it is less harmful. Biker Biggles, I assume you were aiming the intolerance comment at me as much as anyone. Taking drugs is something I fundamentally disagree with. I do not want stoned teenagers hanging out where I live. I do not want the scumbags that peddle the drugs anywhere near my home. The people who supply soft drugs do not usually confine themselves to those only. You are deluded if you think these people will not deal hard drugs to school children. These people will generally sell anything to anyone. If intolerance means pushing these people out and away from that activity then I for one am glad to be intolerant. Drugs money funds other criminal activities too. For those who can't see that beyond your next spliff and think this is about intolerance you are very misguided. I do not want to live in an area where there are needles about, burglaries are rife as addicts try to fund their addiction. Others say legalise it. But we all know alcohol, tobacco, cannabis and every other drug has long term health implications. In fact it's been conveniently forgotten so far in this thread that tobacco is becoming increasingly outlawed for these reasons rather than accepted. To legalise something now, with the knowledge of the health impacts would open the government up to lawsuits from those who become addicted. While you think that may not apply to you, you forget there are people out there that will be and will suffer for it. At the end of the day, the law is the law. Drugs and possession is a criminal offence. I have never hidden the fact I work for Customs, so why are you so surprised when I take exception to the fact someone happily brags about being in possession of substances which my department is actively attempting to prohibit the importation of? |

Lynw...With respect most people can "step out" of what their ocupation is during their relaxation time,if they did not the world would be full of ever more stressed out people and a greater world of intolerance due to a "by the book" culture.
Discretion, tolerance and consideration of others are my key words in this discussion. ![]() *All of the above might be completely ignored by all intelligent persons.* |

Coming back to the original point, I'd report it straight away.
This may have been weed, but if these guys are driving round delivering weed they are definitely driving round delivering harder stuff as well. They won't care whether it's kids, and won't be fussed where the money's coming from, as long as it keeps coming. The money paying for the harder stuff will mainly be coming from crime. Mostly petty theft but no theft's petty to the victims. If no one reports drug dealing on the streets it'll get more and more blatant. It'll also bring in gangs who'll be more organised and much more violent. Take a stand before they take the ****. |

I think that it is fine to restrict smoking tobaco to your house. I think weed should be under the same restrictions. It should also undergo quality control. And be taxed. I am not sugesting it is not harmful. It is. But, if you want to do it, grand, off you go, smoke whatever you like, away from me. Your choice. Dont force me to smoke it. Dont force the people you work with to smoke it. But, its your choice. You want to drink, your choice. You increase the likely hood of cancer . But, now you cannot drive for a few hours. My choice. It has an impact on me now. Oh yeah, and the dealer guys. Scumbags probably. Dont like them. Dont want them around. But, these people are generated from the law. If you have that law, you have dealers. If you dont, you dont. |
