Hmm, there's a bit of truth in that... Though the SV doesn't have huge torque at 3000rpm, of course.

You don't what a IL4...more cylinders and down pipes to clean.

Yeah...new tyres....transforms the bike cheap.

Any bike (except maybe a big vee twin) shouldn't give you too many problems on a cold damp day unless you're ham-fisted, it's all about control.

Now my Falco, that was sometimes "on or off" with power, but with 115 plus bhp and all that torque you can understand why. At the time I was a bit "scared" of the Falco, but that big twin did teach me a lot about respecting a bikes power, and I think I came out a better rider because of it.

Agreed there's a lot of fun riding the SV near it's limits, but I think you can actually learn more by riding something with more power and getting to grips (no pun intended) with how that power is delivered, and how to use the torque.

Just a personal observation....

i agree with what jelster says because i've always been a il4 rider and i took me ages to learn how to use a v twin also what was said about the BIG v twins, my work mate has a tl1000s and he's always on about not giving it a fistfull while cranked over or while damp and to make sure you've stood it up first before you twist the grip hard. i do love the TL but its getting abit old now and its hard to find a good'un.

Eh?

Is this something I havent encountered? This lack of power at the 70-80 mark?

Even before I put my PC on mine,it pulled hard,WAY past that!

And even from 70-80-100+ it STILL pulled hard!

Now it's even better!

I have NO complaints with the power, for what is a relatively LOW BHP output machine!

Yeah everyone wants more, even me,but I certainly don't NEED more!

I feel the same... It doesn't take off like a rocketship but it's hardly lumbering either. Then, mine is not representative of the breed, but it never felt that way standard either.

The SV is lacking power above 90mph...when the BHP goes a bit lazy near the red line. Pulls nicely in the low to mid range and then runs out of go...a bit of a let down after the early fireworks.

Depends how much faster you want to go over 90. Stick to the tight corners and she'll be right.
