Yeah I know the votes were already in but surely they could have given it to the 2nd place guy, what kind of a message does it send was my concern.

Wootan...I understand what your saying,but do you not think the possible message going out when they have sorted out Materazzi, will be far more powerful?

I assume you're referring to the possible racial abuse, if so I agree to a certain extent. My only real concern is a 3 match ban for racial abuse will be forgotten about in a few weeks, where as Zidane's head butt will be a talking point for years. My nephew has already been mastering the technique on his sister and all she did was half inch a bit of his curly wurly. I love the world cup, but in my opinion FIFA don't do enough to protect the game. Its time they started to make examples, they started the tournament saying diving and such tactics would not be tolerated but have done nothing to players who obviously are. Whatever was said clearly upset Zidane and there is no place for that in football but it still doesn't excuse his behaviour, and the "heat of the moment" excuse is crazy, imagine if everyone reacted like that, half the premiership would be in jail.

Wootan..For the money they are on, and the fare they serve up half of them should be in jail for robbery! :P
