If I had a car, I'd say car. Commuting in bad weather is a fine way to take the joy out of biking...

Having it snow when you're at work and have to ride home on the bike takes the fun out of living If I had a car- a lack I aim to fix- I'd still use the bike on better days in winter, but in heavy rain... I'll take the roof, thanks

But surely rain isn't the issue. Chuck water proofs over the leathers and I stay dry. It's just cold that gets me. I've thrown it once on the cold (thanfully at about 15mph), and don't want to try for a repeat performance...

Once over i was a strong advocator for Bike in all weather, and i still am, but now i've got a company car traveling on my bike just costs money, time saved for me is balanced out by time getting kitted up and undressed at either end, however i do miss filtering through all the idiots. Sat on motorways in traffic jams is soul destroying so i turn up my stereo and wind my windows down, the looks from other people keep me smiling all day

Bike!

Getting cold and wet shouldn't be an issue. Good Goretex (or copy) textiles are relatively cheap these days, as are the gloves and boots to go with them. Couple these with heated grips and you should be dry and toasty.

Not sure getting to work quicker is an incentive though! Cutting journey time on the way home is!

lol, I have very good gore-tex winter gear and will have heated grips. I know from past experience that I will still get very very cold and that was in town stuff so I will be too cold when on the M25!

Well when you put it like that!

Kate, how long is your journey then? I guess it's quite long for the cold to penetrate your textiles?
