i suggest everyone watches 'terrorstorm' by alex jones on google videos. Its an excellent documentary and it'll spread some light on why we're spending this amount of money. Best of all - every single argument he presents is fact - and he supports everything. The government have also hidden the fact that £9 billion has already been spent on the submarines in the past 7 years (budget was £3billion but they overspent ). These weapons will be active till 2050, so thats £660 million a year! - alot of which is going in to the yanks pockets

May I propose Ethiopia? Maybe did not pursue nukes, but spent huge amounts of aid on arms, instead of the hungry.

I definitely think we should have the best nuclear program we can possibly have. I really couldn't care less what N. Korea or Iran or anyone else does. We are not judge, jury and executioner of the whole world. It's good that other countries want to develop their own programs because that means we have to work harder on coming up with bigger and badder weaponry. If there was no competition in this world nothing new would ever be developed. Struggle is the father of all things, after all. Saying all of this, I'd rather have nukes in the hands of proper leaders, not idiots like David Cameron. Christ, imagine if he had to launch a nuke He'd probably want to rig a web cam to it

Pah, Alex Jones. You musty be one big loony/left wing/liberal Great Britain hating bigot if you believe anything that trash-talking maggot says. Come on, seriously, what have our leaders got to gain from lying to us, eh, eh???

Although... having seen this, I am wondering who wouldn't want nucs to play with.

They are clearly the coolest things ever.

North Korea may have warheads but they have probably chemical and biological weapons too.

After WWII, Japan did follow a pacifist defence but now they have a superpower and a rogue state on their doorstep. Both have WMD abilities. And therefore my even have to re-arm for possible war.

Britian needs a nuclear defence, whether a submarine based one is the answer should be the debate

Air or ground launched would be my fave and cheaper too.

Exactly, that's why I think we should forget NW's and spend the money on space-based laser's or, if that's too expensive, some kind of winged monkeys.

I'd rather nukes hadn't been invented but since they have, we can't disarm the world without some gits secretly keeping hold of theirs (probably everyone). So, it's a necessary evil at this stage as far as I'm concerned.
