Riiiight...... The ABs are emotional? Come on, they are the total professionals at the moment. They have flair, pace, strength and control. They can pull off rediculous stuff because they are brilliant, but also detached enough to win the ball cleanly.

Any way they are not in the RBS (thank god!).

Yeah they are emotional. Look at their record in the World Cups. There have been quite a few World Cups, ie the last one, where they were not only the best team, but probably the second best, they choked.
The Blacks are emotional when it comes down to it, but normally they are so good that they simply overwhelm the opposition, and settle down into a nice winning game very quickly. If things start to get scary out there, they have in the past panicked a little bit. The Aussies are ice cold on the other hand. They just play rugby.
The blacks play for all of New Zealand.

Edit : I am not saying they aren't the best. They are the best, and probably the second and third best at the moment. I am just saying that playing rugby is so important for New Zealand, it can be like football for Brazil. Them winning is expected. Anything else is an upset.

Ahhh, my boys. There's a hell of a lot of pressure on them each time they play. Whilst the NZ press isn't as scathing as ours can be it's more a case of that quiet dissapointment a parent or teacher can give your that really hurts... only from an entire country.

(Though they didn't choke against SA that one time - it was food poisoning. That's the excuse and I'm sticking with it. )

As Brian Ashton is a friend and I used to have a drink quite often with him at our local pub, I have to vote for England. If he gets to do what he wants to do then England will win it.

Dude, you for real???

IMO, he's one of the best fly halfs we've had for a long time. Better than Rob Andrews was.

His all roudn game is superb. He's an extremly hard tackler (esp for his size), his positioning is very good, he can pass the ball perfectly, has a brilliant "game" mind, and he can kick as well.

Excluding his kicking, he'd still make an excellent player. England frequently use there backs when he's playing, its the other fly halfs we've had recently that don't seem to like passing the ball.

He takes the points when they are needed as well. IMO, (even before the WC in 03) I considered him to be one of the best players in the northen hemisphere total!!
We'll see...
Cough Cough............

He didn't score that try, he was in touch IMO. Only just, but it was in touch.

Exclude his kicking, please now tell me he isn't a great player, all those hard tackles, his positioning, in fact, just re0read my above comments....

Ellis = AWESOME!!!! Some great breaks, perfect passing.

Even the forwards started to get it together.

Was not impressed by Robinson or Farrell. Hope they've got mroe to offer. (Robinson should have score teh first anyway, and the 2nd was pure luck).

I think England need to improve a lot more if they want to challange for the 6 nations though. A lot of mistakes, but a good start for a new team. Good foundation to build on.

Seconded, very impressed with England today.

(And yes, it was in touch )

Did you hear Eddie Butler & Brian wotsisface laying into each other over the penalty against Scotland in the first half too?

Although he had an excellent game I really can't believe that Johnny's try was given by the video ref Everybody in the pub where I was watching, bothScottish & English supporters were all agreed that after looking at the video his right foot was clearly in touch - but hey ho - that's the way it goes.

I also have to say that I believe Harry Ellis should have been Man of the Match - he played a blinder

As for Farrell I think he had a solid game - nothing outstandingly brilliant - but equally no serious errors.

Robinson - well, I've always been in 2 minds about him I don't think he's ever fulfilled his potential for England the way he does at club level.

All in all a good solid start, but as Daimo said improvements are still required before the World Cup.

BTW I didn't make it to the bookies to place my bet on Sebas Chabal being MoM

PS - to balance the JW try - the 1st Scottish try should never have been allowed either - the English jumper clearly had his arm hooked whilst in mid-air, therefore a penalty to England shoul'd have been awarded.
