"We were just riding back up the A55, the traffic was moving slower than the speed limit and we just proceeded to make our way around the vehicles as most bikers do," he said.

Oh, please......

It makes my teeth itch I'm telling you.

Obvioulsy they had loaned the brain cell to someone else when interviewed because to then go on and say...

"When I get my licence back I will go out and buy another sports bike and pretty much go out and do exactly the same thing again."

I need to go and lie down......

Whoever and wherever that quote is from is quite correct.

It was only last week that I said when traffic drops below 70mph on the A55 I filter. I don't see that as using the road like a racetrack though.

EDIT: I now see it's from that BBC link, and they were taking the mikey a fair amount. That's not filtering at 70-80mph, and I don't know anyone that rides on the A55 as they do (I remember seeing the video).

Breaking the speed limit is a factor in 4% of motorbike fatalities, and Paul Cheshire, of BikeSafe Cymru, said the main cause was inexperience.

Yeah he made that quote on our course.

Most crashes according to him are single vehicle failure to make a bend. Most Fatalities were left handers, running wide and being 'collected' by vehicle / Armco. He is very anti DAS, due to the experience issue.

I'd go a step further though & highlight that "breaking the speed limit" is very different to "inappropriate speed."

If I was the only vehicle on the road, ever, they could scrap speed limit's all together, and I'd still have the exact same chance of killing myself in a "single vehicle incident." Yes sometimes I ride at inappropriate speed, but it's not as often as something that's definately an offence.
