Sorry, can't watch the video yet. But won't the easiest solution be to switch to Biofuels that go in existing engines with little modification?

Biofuels are grown with fossil fuel burning machinery and fossil fuel derived fertilizer. The space used to grow biofuel is land that will be needed to grow food as crop yields drop.

Good for you - very wise choice all round. I've had four diesels including 100bhp Passat SE. Loved it (considered the cheaper SAAB 93 at the time - Passat infinitely better at everything IMO). Almost got another but 'discovered honda and got an Accord 2.2 diesel. First rate; just ordered Civic Type S.

Had 'trucks' as well i.e. Fiat Tipo but all in all diesels are superb.

Diesel for me every time!

just done 480 miles in the passat tdi on just a tad more than half a tank, thats £30 ish quid, the car recon's i'm doing an average of 52mpg! now that i'm happy with.
