Do they have those on an SV? If they have markers like "-...+" or "softer...harder" then that's the rebound damping adjustment screws. I can't remember seeing those on an SV before but it's been a while. More likely to be a locking screw to take the top caps off for fitting springs. Can you sned a pic?

They are preload adjusters. As far as I know K1 backwards did not have them but K2 onwards do.

Ah right....no that's your preload adjustment. Most bikes have flats on the sides for adjusting the preload using a spanner and a small centre screw inside that for adjusting the rebound.

I am also finishing off my masters degree. Doing dissertation as we speak. I can confirm that it is frying by brain, and has completely taken over my life. I'm sure if I even hint to John that I might quite like to do a PhD after this he will shoot me, or leave me, or both.

Oh, and I'm dead bendy, so I do yoga!

As for the bike, I can put petrol in her, ride her and clean her. For any other things it either goes into garage or John does it. And to be honest, he really does the petrol bit too!
Uhuh - bang on the money for the PhD......if it goes that far, consider yourself available for relationships again!!! (Not allowed to shoot you anymore...they banned that sport of mine 10 years ago!)

As for me....I'm a Quality and Environmental Manager with responsibility for Health and Safety as well for an electronics company - we make and repair flight data recorders for aircraft (not the black box that is actually painted orange and survives the crash....our's are black and die when planes crash)

When it comes to DIY....I'm a bit ambi-useless, and the same is true for anything remotely bike maintenenace related!!! Beanie sums up most of what I do....and it ain't much!!! Been toying with taking a Motorcycle Maintenance course - there's one seemes to be done at Cumbernauld College which I'm sure would teach me more than I already know....

I'm a project development officer for community safety. ASB and ASBO's are my speciality. Previous jobs community support officer, pub manager and CSO for CSA. I'm a mind full of useless information.

As for bikes - I have men that do it for me! (I have a mechanic for a dad and I have Garry!) Besides I'm useless but I can make tea/coffee/food to keep you going

Nope. But I could show everyone how to crash. I'm quite good at that apparently.

They most certainly do around here. We have one troublesome teenager that has been dealt with several times in court. Each time he goes to court he goes with his "troops" and struts around the estate like some sort of macho boy.
