Mine (XDA Orbit phone/satnav) won't do voice instructions over bluetooth so I use the wired headset. I keep the XDA in my jacket pocket. It seems to work pretty well.

In the car, bluetooth headset.

I haven't used satnav on the bike yet, as I haven't found a bluetooth headset that will fit under the lid. I don't like the idea of wires attaching my ears to the bike in case I come off.

What about the Nolan/BMW Bluetooth lids

Kinda defeating the object though I guess

Went to Squires from warrington last Sunday. Missed the turning and ended up in Tadcaster, then york. Phoned the wife and she guided me to Squires.
Now if I had the PDA with me I wouldn't have gotten lost.
Enjoyed the ride though and got to know some roads.
Er... whos going to lead us to AR 07 then ?

I use a Nokia N-Gage (Gaming 'Symbiant' Mobile Phone). with Route 66 2003/4 or summat. Never a wrong turn unless roads are very new. Voice instructions wired to my inner pocket, wire up through jacket under helmet, so not attached to bike to rip head off etc!!! Voice commands are very good and given well in advance. Wrong turns are not "butchered" by the nice lady, but a new route is calculated within seconds and your on your way.

Nice bit of kit and compact enough for bikers. Voice commands though earpiece or intercom system provide timely instructions without the need to look at the screen, which I wish every GPS system possesed. It would stop all these car drivers looking at pretty maps and concetrate on driving, and avoid harming bikers!!!! Why can't GPS sytems work like traffic announcements in vehicles ICE (In Car Entertainment) system, or whatever kinda cool sounding name they've decided to call it these days!!!!!

Agree with the excitement and "exploration" of maps though. I remember doing a round trip in France with nothing but, a map, me bike and a spare pair of pants for the Alps!!! GPS would have been handy to plan my fuel stops a little more regular though . . . . . not fun running out of fuel downhill of the nearest garage!!!!!!
