Strange one this...........

I'm originally from Glasgow, but now live in Darlington, 30 miles to the south of Newcastke.

Never had any problems at alll, unless I'm at work, but then most people who I deal with can't see past the uniform. Although my accent has defused a few fights outside the pubs cos of the reputation we have as being mad.

A lot of the English do consider the Scots to be fiery short tempered aggressive type people. I find that those that don't have visited the country, and some of those that do hold that viewpoint have this blinkered view that life is some sort of cross between Monarch of the Glen/Take the High Road/Hamish Macbeth/200o acres of Sky with a bit of the Broons and Oor Wullie thrown in. By that I mean we all live with the sound of bagpipes playin in the background 24/7, eat sheeps stomachs and deep fried mars bars while wearing the kilt or harris tweed.

A lil' tale.
Annoying...A Scot from the highlands came to St Andrews Uni hating the English and vowing never speak to any English. 24 hours later, he found the folly of his ways and grew up. Sure to hate people but do it on better than bigotry. Not all English are evil and have horns.

Another episode is a Welsh tosser who wouldn't speak to me in English and I had to get a relative to translate.

Not everything about Scotland is good. As anyone who has watched River City and drank a pint of Tennants will testify.
