I need some mirrors to use, only got one and it won't stay where I put it, after a mile I've got a view of my stomach lol
Wish I had £85 to spend on training

Not berating IAM but that guys observer/instructor. I wasn't the only bike between him and his pupil I suspect this wasn't the start of a ride but half way through being as they had pulled up just north of A505/A1198 roundabout

OK yes it's a bit of a poor show, the observer should be 'protecting' the pupil and be able to keep up with him. But sounds like he took the option of pulling over & waiting for the pupil to return to him?

They were still following (group of about six bikes) but were a long way back, probably keeping to the speed limit through the village

How do you know they were IAM?

To be fair if you're doing advanced training then you shouldn't need any protecting, I don't have an instructor watching my back on the commute so having one on training would be counterproductive IMO

The observer guy doesn't seem to be there to protect you in the way a DAS instructor does. Mainly there to watch what you are doing then tell you it's all wrong!!

Yep...they are purely there to observe you; then they advise you how to improve when they "de-brief" you (oeerr!) every-so often.

Another course to go on is The Edge which is run by most local councils. Its only a one day affair but the observer is a member of the local constabulary.Probably one of the best riders of a motorcycle.I went on one about 3-4years ago which I found helpful to the extent that it was the first critique of my riding since passing my test in 1974 and have riden continuously since. Most insurance companies give a discount for this as well.
As with all training its only any use if you follow the teachings everyday and I would agree with others on here that too much training makes some people think they are riding gods and invincible. With my advancing years and my desire to get even older, I naturally take less heroic chances than I did when I was a teenager.
