I've found myself wanting tank grips, though not keen on the price of techspec or stomp grips.



I found Eazi-grip (not the R&G ones - not sure what if any relationship there is there) and they seem a relative bargain. They do three versions though and I was struggling to decide, so I shot them off an email yesterday and today I've received three good-sized offcut samples in the post, FOC.


So my SOTD is great service - going out of the way to help out a small customer before I've even spent any money with them.


FWIW, I have zero affiliation. All three samples seem like excellent material - I'll take the weekend to decide before ordering.

I've used them a lot. I've tried the EVO and they were fine but have got on best with the pro pattern. Fairly subtle looking on the bike and good sticky grip.

SOTD - new toy arrived yesterday.

GOTD - 1st attempted delivery and the battery was flat, it went back and returned with a new one fitted.
GOTD 2 - it was a shame to see the street triple go, I’ve had it for 12 years and enjoyed every ride.
GOTD 3 - It’s absolutely lashing down so I don’t fancy learning a new bike in this.

SOTD 2 - I’ll try and get out tomorrow, time to grow old disgracefully.

I've got them on mine, they aren't as good as the stomp grips I had before but are fine. Partially due to my positioning of them as they're smaller than stomp grips and in my opinion the ones I have don't suit the lines as well as the stomps I had. If it wasn't for the pain in the **** of the left over adhesive when you remove them I'd be taking them off and swapping them/moving them.

I remember the customer service being great too. Bet it's transformed the bike if it's the first time you've had grips!

I've often wondered about tank grips, there's plenty of riding tips about gripping the tank on social media. It's interesting that lots of classic bikes used to come with them as standard.

They are excellent. They were anbsolute revelation to me, I now hate riding bikes without them. Mine fell off in the heat in Spain and it annoyed me on every corner/brake application on the way home.

A lot of the old Brit bikes had them including my inherited Trummy 3TA. Was it for more control or to protect the inside of the knees from cold shock? The likes of the 3TA were made to be an all weather ride to work bike, and I can remember the difference when wrapping my knees around a 'naked' tank!

I rather like the tank pads on my T100. I put a Bagster cover on my GSX-F, partly to help grip the tank better, and found that the naked tank on my curvy needed constant waxing to prevent paint wear.

First ride of 2021 and the first after breaking my wrist. I did about 30 miles on the SV and, as expected, my wrist ached after a short while, more noticeable was the brief intense pain when straightening my fingers to grab the brake. Part of that might be due to the foam grips I have on the SV which means I have to grip the throttle tightly - I'll know better when I take the Zed out. I've always had a bad habit of gripping the bars too tightly, anyway.

The SV has been behind a plastic sheeting partition (with the Zed) and a dehumidifier in my garage - there was no staining or discoloration of the stainless headers after 5 months and the Suzuki fired up immediately. I was pleasantly surprised that the tyres hadn't lost any pressure either.

Eazi-grip are OK, but don't get the clear ones - you will never get the bubbles and stress marks in plastic out. I fitted clear to my AL7 and took them off a few months after because of the marks in them.
