Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?
I have a very intelligent colleague who does this every time she speaks. It;s irritating because she is very articulate but still seems unable to say any sentence without using the word at least twice a sentence.
"If we were to, like, ask the framers to like, come in on Monday to reframe this painting, could we, like, take photos on Tuesday? I can then, like, ask the Media manager to, like, send out a press release Wednesday." Remove the word like and this is still a perfectly viable set of sentences.

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?
There seems to be a new verb which has the same meaning as "said". The verb is "waslike", as in "I waslike oh really, and she waslike yeah".

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?
Last three posts - I feel your pain! Almost as annoying as the "idiots inflection" that so many people adopt when their tone rises at the end of a sentence making it sound like a question. So ****ing annoying.

Scousers are always upset, and Aussies never get upset. I think we're ok.

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?
Last day of the year for me today and the bosses decide to close up at midday - my boss said I could could put a full day on my timesheet. Excellent.
Several of the guys brought their kids in so once the shyness wore off we had half a dozen under sixers running around with worried looking dads removing heavy objects and unplugging things to prevent rogue phone calls. Hilarious. Where's the gripe? Most of them had colds so there is a good chance I'll now come down with one just in time for Monday...
