I got to see Flying Ant Day for a change. Sat under the parasol on the patio this morning, coffee beside me cooling down to the right temperature, reading a magazine, when I noticed an odd haze. Looked up to see a mass of flying insects, all heading skywards, slightly diagonally on the very light breeze. The lawn was a shimmering carpet of fussing ants escorting the winged emergents, who looked about for a moment, checked for wind direction and just launched straight up. Absolutely mesmerising, from a dozen or so points in the lawn. 30 minutes later it was all over - the odd straggler wandering around or possibly a newcomer from a different colony a few doors away. Such an amazing sight.

Sorry Seeker - might not your cup of tea per your comments on the other thread, but it was fascinating for me.

Was it Flying Ant day today for the rest of you?

Obviously my suggestion was facetious but I think that tomorrow's mask guideline is unworkable. However, there have been instances where a vote was due in Parliament and I've voiced my opinion - as a constituency MP it's his job to listen, irrespective of how he feels. Telling him he was too old to represent young people at 71 years old probably didn't help my case, though.

He was on the committee that's introducing E10 ethanol I discovered after sending him many links as to why it was not a great idea.
I wrote to him about the GKN takeover asking him to voice his opposition. He agreed with me then voted with the party; hence untrustworthy.
More recently I've been haranguing him about the lack of ethics (and the amount of sleaze) in the current cabinet. Maybe my emails go straight into his junk/spam folder but I'll keep writing.

You are guilty of MP abuse, if he was an ethnic a football player or on TV you would have the thought police round your house.

Brilliant (and far too rare) ride this morning, up around Rutland Water. For a short while, from about Rockingham racetrack, I was behind a small group including a black curvy with a luggage rack. Lost them at a set of lights though. Anyone from here?

You probably aren't aware of all the internal politics that the Public do not see.
A party needs to have members seeing eye to eye/compromising on votes to work for the overall. We can't always have everything our way as Society is made up of a lot of people and circumstances - some of which work for us, some don't.
The MP's & the PM are all puppets. If you want change speak to the puppet masters - the people with the money that Bank roll them.

Not seen them yet. They usually assemble on our back door step then climb up the wall to the adjacent window cill before launching themselves into the sky in squadrons. It is a fascinating sight.

Actually, I understand that's exactly the situation in Germany for certain Autobahn sections - the 'unlimited' sections are not "no speed limit" but have an "advisory limit". Have a crash and they'll still take the speed you were travelling into consideration in comparison to the advisory limit to see if you deserve some of the fault laid against you. You're 'expected' to drive apppropriately, there's no impunity if bad stuff happens.

So not so facetious after all. I like your thinking. Reading your post has raised a smile for me today

And credit to you for trying to engage with your MP They can make representations in the House of Commons or privately to Ministers or Civil Service on behalf of their constituents but we do need to let them know if we think Government policy is inappropriate, implementation is wrong or law needs changing. That's our democratic system as I understand it!
