Re: DL650 V-Strom handguards on a SV650
Just fitted my hand guards today, after having them at home for a few weeks. Fingers have only just thawed out from this morning's jaunt into work.
No issues fitting them, although I do have 1 x washer left over . Took me 30 mins to fit using the stock cheese tools from under the seat (would've done it in less time had I a) had proper tools and b) wasn't wearing shirt/tie/trousers). They do catch very slightly on the inside of the fairing at full lock, but I'm sure that won't be an issue under normal riding conditions. Cheaper than winter gloves and more protection for my levers as well as hands! |

Are they noisy in the wind?

Re: DL650 V-Strom handguards on a SV650
My levers weren't touched, although it was a very slow speed drop. The bar end bent a lot because it is longer with the guard fitted. I doubt the lever would have broken without the guard, in this case.
Probably what it saved was my glove being grazed, altho I can't remember exactly where my hand was once the bike started to topple.

Re: DL650 V-Strom handguards on a SV650
Don't think they're noisy (although I rode home with ear plugs in), however, they don't keep your hands toastie, they just keep the worst off.
After 40mins M-way riding, fingers were about to drop off (God knows what it would have been like without them though!). Should be good keeping the worst of the rain off too, but I think I'm gonna have to get a set of winter gloves or start leaving the bike at home and drive to work. Might be in my mind, but they seemed to direct more air into your elbows/biceps as well. |
