IMHO dont discount the GSXR 750 either. Get a test ride on it. I'm glad I spent the extra and had a bigger jump up from the SV. Its given me more room to grow into the bike. I reckon by now I'd have been thinking about changing again if I had got the 6.

IMO dont discount 1000cc twins. Similar/slightly more peak power to the 600's (SV1000/Falco about 110-115RWHP standard) and a midrange that a 600 can only dream of. And to be honest much better road bikes (imo and many others), as they are comfortable and easy to ride fast without playing with a gear shifter or reving it to blow up point. They also handle well enough for even track days.

Falco FTW.

There I said it streight. Sales pitch out there. Pics if you require

Get the Gixxer 600 in white, theres one in my local dealer if your willing to travel. The 08 gsxr600 kicks in at around 5500rpm and just keeps pulling. The one or two times i've been over 8000rpm you get another rush/surge of power. Can't wait until im run in to try the full rev range. 16000 of the buggers . Comfy, pulls well, sounds the nutts even on standard exhaust and looks the dogs. Go on you know you want too!!!

Yep i'm sure there very good, and on any ss600 you would feel a tremendous power surge compared to the sv(as good as they are i loved mine).Rode/owned many bikes over a lot of years(been riding 30yrs and i'm only 36).

At the moment i'm on a cbr600rr 130mph in 3rd and only the other day i saw the speedo at 168 and was still only in 5th(albiet at redline),but then again mines not standard inside or out, robo don't do standard..lol.

But at the end of the day even though its a great bike the sv's never gonna get close to that, standard or not.

I had an SV but now have the Gixer 600 silver/white model.

Got to be said, the difference is like chalk and cheese and I'm not even out of the 'running in' stage yet.

Handling, brakes, 'feel', riding position, confidence factors all go through the roof after hopping on a Gixer 6. It just feels ****ing lush.. Haven't been able to give it the berries yet (see first sentence), but I can tell that its just itching to be ridden a lot more agressively than the SV whilst offering more by way of confidence and easy rideability.

If you can't decide, go for a test ride because the mixed comments of fellow enthusiasts aren't really going to do much for your decisions. If your like me, you'll just do it on impulse and worry about whether you might not like it later. As it goes, I want to put my johnson up the exhaust pipe most evenings.

Bye.

Where did you do this? Man that speedo must be miles out... 168 in 5th!? Id be shocked if it did that in 6th.

The bloke who had all the work done said it was probably capable of around the 180 mark, even though him himself was a steady eddy and really only got the bling and stuff done for the shows he entered it in.

As for the speed, that was done on the motorway between blackburn & burnley on a quiet evening, racing a porche carrera........it lost, lol.

180's a bit optimistic for a 600 is it not? The NW200 supersport bikes get about 175 in full race trim. Unless yours be nitrous'd/turbo'd?

10% speedo inaccuracy... they are usually 10% over the real speed... well Jap bikes are so 180mph -10% = 162MPH... About right. Still fast enough to demolish the rider bike and the average wall/car. Unless he has changed the gearing through the chain then I cant see how it could do that speed.

Nah the power is the more likely reason, gearing is easy to change, then again if it's been downgeared it could well indicate 180
