Default Re: Advice / opinoin on the R6

I use to have one and loved it! It was the slightly older 06 model, but apart from some styling tweaks and the variable intake tracts off the R1, it's pretty much the same. If I knew what I knew now then I wouldn't have sold it when I moved to Oz, but I'm also very happy with the Daytona 675 that replaced it.

They sound awesome with a stock can - especially when you get near the redline. Contrary to common believe, they do work below 15k rpm - It's just the magazines doing back to back tests with the other 600s, always shows the R6 to be the most focussed.

People complain about achy wrists etc. but I never really had a problem. Anyway, after all it is a sportsbike and if motorway mile munching is your bag, then it is probably the wrong bike anyway.

I would definitely buy another!

My Opinion Shell.

Dont do it.

Wait until you are fit and well, and the shoulder is healed.

The riding position is MUCH more extreme than the SV one - if you cannot ride your SV comfortably then you wont get on with any of the SS600's. Whereas on the SV I was used to seeing my elbows in the mirrors, on a 675 I was seeing my shoulders, I was leant over that far.

Give it time, get back on the SV and get back in to riding on that.

Yeah, but to be fair the GSXR and CBR both do distance very nicely, and though less focussed aren't actually slower.

The new R6 is better than the last one though for that, did you ever see the overlays of the 04 and 06 R6 power curves? Funny... The old one made more power absolutely everywhere, sometimes by a fair bit (up to 5bhp through the mids) until you got to the peak, where the new one made about 3 more bhp for about 1000rpm then fell off again. Fair enough if that's what you want, but it's a bit silly on the road.

I've always found the R6's seat height to be way too tall compared to the SV. The specs show the 2008 R6 as having a seat height of 33.5 inches, whereas the SV is closer to 31. However the 2008 GSXR750 is only 31.9 inches, perfect for short arses like me

Just slapping some sense into you!!

Hopefully you are just dreaming and not seriously going to buy a NEW bike (if you are as strapped for cash at the mo as you said and have the SV sat there idle). That would just be stupidity

Nothing stopping you from going to a dealer and blagging a go on a 'demo' mind if you just fancy a ride on one!!

Blue I will pretend more if ya gonna slap me again I enjoyed it

I am simply bored and I know myself too well, I will go and buy a new toy as sitting here looking at bikes, reading bike mags etc is just eating at me. I am also looking at new cars but they just don't excite me like you and bikes do Blue LOL.

I don't think with my sling on my arm, the dealer will fall for the "can I have a test ride please I am gonna buy one today".

"No I have had the impulse purchase drummed out of me but I do fancy treating myself after the year I have had, so when I am fit and well I will be looking at new bikes and everyones advice here has made me look away from the R6 ....... still like the look of them, but I like Vin Diesel and ain't gonna get him, not even on a test ride "
