For the yoke, try and find someone who's GSXR-ising their SV... The yokes aren't very valuable and they're heavy so a lot of people don't even bother selling them! As for replacing it, don't worry, it's about 5 bolts- you'd need to take it off for the locks anyway! Though it's much easier if you can get the front off the ground with an under-yoke stand or similiar. Probably someone on here can help.

If no one local can lend a front stand, then you can 'take the load' off the forks (that is what NW is getting at - bearing in mind the top yoke is supporting the forks, if you just pop the top yoke off, the forks will be putting an undue load on the bottom yoke, possibly twisting it slightly ... certainly enough to make putting the new top yoke on tricky) by getting someone to pivot the bike back and up on the side stand. Its not ideal (front under yoke stand is better), but it will work!!

Hah! Thank you so much, that is exactly what they broke! But I am thinking, maybe I should wait for a couple of days, cos there is a broker in Ion Acton, near Bristol who has I bet 50 broken SVs in his garage, so I wanted to pay him a visit -

I am not being stingy, but I have to cut all corners

I basically mean I would rather find a scratched yoke for half the price...

This may just cost you a replacement top yoke, because that certainly needs doing.

Hi Lozzo,

well the thing is I actually put the key in and tried to turn it, but it wouldn't move - so I guess that means it's broken, isn't it?

Yes, I have also already accepted the fact that I have to pay - there is just one last argument I gona try:

The police told me it got towed cos it was left on its side and caused an obstacle/danger - but I actually talked to the man who picked up the bike himself, and he said the bike was found BEHIND A BUSH ON ITS STAND!!!

So I gonna say they should not have towed it. Well, I will write a letter of complaint anyway, first they don't tell me anything, then they tell me rubbish, then they don't give me my bike back (8pm, still no news) - I mean fur **** sake, I thought OWNERSHIP actually means something...

It really works... It's easier to have a "proper" stand but you don't need it.

I've got some from the nekkid bike. Why do you need a new yoke, thought it had just been keyed?

It's more than likely the old bill moved it to behind the bush as the won't stay there and guard the bike while the wait for the tow truck.
