I've had 140 indicated before (many times) and my mate on his gixer 600 also had 130 indicated and he was behind the porsche while I was alongside!

Still, no matter, if it makes you feel more masculine I can always say it's all a lie and only an in-line 4 could muster such heady speeds..

You're right though, I would find it hard, but that's just because I've never done it/seen anyone do it, and to be honest don't have a clue about what balancing does, let alone how to do it. Do a search on here, tis all explained!

I wasn't suggesting that the tyres were making it backfire Oh!
I meant it's only started doing it since I picked it up from the garage who did my tyres (to get an idea of time) The bloke said it was running lumpy so I should probably get it serviced (possibly through them).. Nothing like fishing for business!!

Has a scorpion exhaust on it, which was fitted well before I got the bike, but it's never backfired before, since I've had it at least.
Doesn't backfire when I shut off the throttle, but when I'm accelerating and hit a slight bump it goes bang. Did it mid corner yesterday, nearly shat myself.
Got onto an A road, national limit, and it would backfire everytime there was even a suggestion of a bump.. revs would drop for a sec and then BANG (sometimes BANG BANG BANG ), and then it would pick up again. Made overtakes even more dodgy than normal!!

Sounds like a loose wire causing the engine to cut out, when you've gone over the bump, the connection is re-made and the engine fires up, igniting all the unburnt fuel in the engine and exhaust. Get it seen to ASAP. While your waiting to get it seen to, check all your wiring. Check the main loom and any wires you can see under the tank and around your frame. You could also try wiggling wires while the engine is running to see if you can get it to cut out!

No LED on the fob. Tried changing batteries.. no luck
So now my bike is immobilised in my garage. This may be linked to the dodgy connection! Can't get someone to have a look at it as I have no way of getting it to them (sold motocross trailer with the bike), unless I can borrow a van

I'm sure it's all coincidence but it's slightly odd that both have gone wrong since I got my bike back
Do not take it to the same place unless the are recommended you trust them. They may be pulling a fast one by creating a fault, especially as you are (please don't take this as patronising, as it's not meant to be) a sweet young boy and aren't clued up on machine maintenance yet.

It seems odd that it was fine before and not now. It may be a coincidence but it may not. Lumpy fueling is best done with a yoshi tune so unless they can do that they're probably pulling a fast one, besides, an end can should affect the fueling much.

Regards

Possibly naively I thought "Thanks, will do."

and aren't clued up on machine maintenance yet. .. Very true. Gotta start somewhere though

It's had the same can on all the time I've had it

We went out for a lovely ride yesterday, out into the hills surounding Weston and then over to Cheddar.

In the car park we met a Dad with his teenage son, the young lad jumped at the chance for a sit on Silvie, and his first question was "Does it go fast?" I could not hide the smile as I thought back to the duel carriage way and that marvelous feeling of seven and a half thousand revs and my semi orgasmic grinning and told him, "oh yes, she is fast!"

It is funny that after six months together, lots of out playing on the bike and visiting many places (putting over a thousand miles on my SV!) we had still not been out for a romantic meal. So having rectified this in a lovely place in Cheddar it was off up the gorge on foot to check out the famous Chris Bonington climbs of the mid sixties (sadly from the road, Carol has no aspirations to be a mountaineer... sad sigh) and me dreaming of climbing some of the less terifying ones.

Back in Cheddar and we mount up for the ride home and we have a fuel light, so in goes nearly twenty litres of the good stuff (actually which fuel is best for the SV? Our mate Wayne says that the expensive stuff is better. opinions?) and we hit the road again.

The sun was just setting and the evening air was gorgeous (although Carol was more gorgeous), we got stuck behind a car for a while in country lanes too narrow to pass safely, but it was so nice, Carol just hung back and I enjoyed the view. Once back in Weston we landed at Skallies, the local biker pub and met some of Carol's friends. One beer for me and we sat outside chatting.

I looked at her and then at the bike and realised just how happy I really am in my new home. I have a great bike, a great girlfriend and the day was perfect in every way. If there is an almighty Being in the sky, then I should thank them for inventing motorcylces, but seeing as I am a non theastic neo pagan semi athiest, I should probably thank the designer of my beloved SV650S K3 instead. Bless you, who ever you are.
