Christopher - it isn't far from Chester to Shrewsbury - 40 miles in fact. Don't do the boring A483/A5, do the much more interesting A41 and A49. On coming into Shrewsbury from the north, stay on the A49 going round the east side of the town, follow the signs for Ludlow and the services are about 5 miles down on the south side of town. In the car from where I live (about 5 mins fromthe services) it usually takes me about 50 minutes.

You wll miss a fantastic part of the ride else - the bit from Knockin to Bala, and especially the bit through the Tanat valley and over the Berwyns, really is magnificent.

He's right, that's why I'm doing the route in reverse to meet the guys - so I get to do it twice!

Don't think there is a list quiffster. It's gonna be a good un, get yerselves over to stretch the bikes legs before GMII
