What ???
Are you parking on hillsides?

Is this just some strange ramblings from one of Quiffy's Bedtime Fables or do you really apply the brake to dismount????

Me..I try to find a fairly level place to park so's I can just get off the bike without all that drama.

[edit] actually I roll the bike backwards just wee bit to make sure the sidestand is fully deployed and going to hold up the bike before dismounting...but not holding the brake.

Maybe it`s a control issue . All your Gear change stuff is on the left like the Clutch and Gear shift , all the speed adjustment stuff is on the right , both Brake Levers and Throttle . So , anyhoo , you come to a stop and need to "Cover" the brakes and don`t need a foot dropping the side stand down on the Brake side do you as you may be covering the back brake with that foot , only foot free is the left side .

Sorry if this has been mentioned before , but I simply don`t have the wherewithall to read all the replies because I have Cheese on toast and a Coffee ......................... Red Leicester before you ask .

I usually of course drop the side stand as I am on te bike.. unless that is wrong too.. then I hold the brake a I get off for the same reasons as you say in that the side stand would flick up if bike moved forward .. usually its in gear anyway ..as droppin gsidestand cuts my engine for me. but its just a habit I expect..

it all happens so quickly I aint conscious of a "system "when I stop

Same for me Quiff , had too many bikes roll a bit when getting on and off due to Wales being a bit "Up and Down" on roads and not always flat , I hold front brake when dismounting or mounting the bike and with pillions as well ...... force of habit over the years .
