I'd say go for the boat building. Sounds like it's what you really want to do. The further on you progress in a career/job you don't like much, the harder it will be to leave.

I'm in my third career and looking to take the plunge once again.

Come to the Isle of Man there are shipyards and boat building companies over here if your looking for work... Did i mention this already?

If you want to do it, do it.

I've done it twice. Took a pay cut the 2nd time but got the job i'd wanted for a few years, and i've loved pretty much every minute of it.

I say go for it!


When I was lad (in the 70's) jobs were plentiful like that here.

Now....Over here very few people enjoy or even choose what they want to do for a living.
They take whatever job they can find.
If they are lucky enough to get a chance at a good paying job, of course it's always best to take it.
If you're going to be miserable you might as well be well paid for it.
No one (in their right mind) in 2009 would quit a job in the US without already having another job secured.
