Chum is made by Waltham I wouldnt actually class it as a rubbish dog feed (unless your dogs have any specific dietry needs) and my understanding of it is that it still is a balanced diet.

Ive had them on Hills, JW (even the ferrets got that), Eukanuba and Waltham and there was no significant difference in the amount of poo.

Obviously not if you want to breed with them, but why else would you keep them?

The character and the weight issues, especially on a lab.

And, getting a dogs nads off because you can't control it with them doesn't say much for your training skills.

Chopping their nads off does actually make them happier, more balanced animals. For them to be happy with their nads on (?) they would need to be bred every 6 months.

I know more people with overweight problematic labradors which have been done.

I'd rather have a dog who's been slim and healthy for all 13 years so far, than a fat and docile one. Even if he does shag the settee occasionally.

They are prone to weight issues anyway because of their tendancy to eat like hogs, without artificially changing their metabolic rates.

If you are getting a lab then you will accept the fact that they are energetic dogs and need to be worked, a bit more will exercise and a controlled diet will keep them trim and happy.

Have you still got yours? are you planning to breed.
If there is some medical need to hae their bits lopped off in the future then fair enough but other than that they'll be staying intact.
Also far too young for removal, lot of vets now doing at 5 months or earlier, can cause significant problems with development.

Both my labs still have thier knackers and i see no need for them to get the chop, yes they have lots of energy but long walks most days sorts that out. These are working dogs and as such require lots of exercise or soon turn into fat unhealthy animals.
As for judging a lab by the colour of its coat !! what a load of B~~~~~~s,
i have had all three now and each has had its own persanality, although my brown one molts more than my black one, and my black one swims better than the brown.
Labs and kids were made for each other
