I can`t believe that people are bringing Hovis up in this thread!!!! The simple fact of the matter is that Hovis was real, DD on the other hand was not.

I didn`t post in the RIP thread for DD because I fully agree with Lozzo. Dangerous Dave was, in my opinion, a fake. He was some guy sat there totally bored with his life who decided to invent a character. A character that was respected and admired and who people would be in awe of.

When people started to question him on his job and moreso the fact that he appeared to willingly give a lot of information about his role he then invented Becky! Another fictional character who he hoped would convince people that he was genuine.

Like Lozzo I thought it was disgusting that he decided to time his departure on Remembrance Sunday. It was extremely odd that somebody announces "Becky" was far too upset to post then within 10 minutes she had indeed posted.

Dangerous Dave whoever you are I`d just like to say you are sick.... you make a mockery of all that our armed services are doing and the sacrifices that they have made for us.

This character will be reading this because by now he will have rejoined the org under another user name or perhaps he was already a member?

I`d like to add that this is not a unique occurrence. My friend who is extremely educated and, she thought, wise to the ways of the world was totally taken in by a similar sick prank. She met a guy via the internet who was also supposedly in the SBS. She dated this guy for over a year. One day she received an email from a supposed friend informing her that her boyfriend had been killed in action. She was distraught and had to go through the whole grieving process. 6 months later she saw him in a supermarket.... he was shopping with a woman who turned out to be his wife. Obv she confronted him but the whole experience has left her scarred. She actually found a website full of women who had also been taken in by other men leading a fantasy life.

Maybe I should have made it clearer. SBS haven't lost a man in the time frame that DD was meant to have been killed.

I'll be gutted if this thread is proven to be true, I always got great advice from DD and never once considered him to be anything but a real person, as real as I am.

I knew he was in the SBS, through reading something but he never revealed much more than that other than a comment via PM regarding a fitness test. Although to be honest I never pushed it, why would I.

The day I found out I was genuinely gutted, partly because I had chatted to him and got advice from him, partly because of another forum member passing in recent time and as both these members were about my age the realising of my own mortality.

I trust everyone on this forum and didn't think I had any reason not to, but I guess it is just like any other internet forum at the end of the day.

LOZZO - did you ever voice your concerns?

I was reading this wondering what was going on, but now I feel I really need to now what has happened here and why?

I really want to believe that DD is real otherwise I am a mug and I like to think that's not the case.

The question was asked in the RIP thread if anyone had met DD. There was a message from a member who said he had. A few messages have been deleted (afaik they have not been moved anywhere) and that was one of them.

The message said that he had met DD but didn't know at the time it was him, think it said he had met him 'at the Quay' if I remember correctly. DD then told him they had met via PM afterwards.

Has anyone (else) ever met him?

And who knows anything about Becky?

I never felt the need to while DD was 'alive'. While someone is playing out their fantasy life I'll not stir the waters and let them get on with it, but when it starts to offend me or anyone else then I'll call them out on it. I voiced my concerns after his apparent death purely because of the timing.

Rememberance Sunday was the worst possible timing and guaranteed to wind me up into saying something.

I was approached at a public bike meet. Loz and Neio know all the details, as this has been part of our conversations on the matter
