I would have said they were preventing snow ballers from assaulting people on the hill and by showing a high vis presence the public were safe to enjoy the snow without fear of being assaulted.

Trust and confidence

OK only fun I have had on the job is getting the panda stuck up a hill and sliding back down and breaking up snowmen built in the carriageway.

I wanna go !!!!! ;0)

Nice one officers, I'd do the same!

You can't compare police sliding down a hill whilst out in the field with if we were to do the same. The equivalent of that in our jobs may be very different, so they can't be compared. That's the nature of police work, out there doing stuff, etc, so they're bound to bump into more fun. Like someone suggested earlier, police sliding down a hill is an office workers equivalent of taking 20 minute 'internet breaks'.

And also we're not too sure if they were on a break or not. That could have been the start of their lunchtime. I assume police officers are allowed lunch right?!

well it looked fun, so fair do's.

At the end of the day the force were inevitably going to have to take some action...as it's what they feel like they have to do. They were stupid for letting that snotty little **** film them though.

And doing it at the tax payers expense is a bit over hyped I wonder how many times they've missed breaks etc. they've been entitled to to go and help out a tax payer.

Public wouldn't think so. I went in Tesco for a sandwich, pick the shops were there are frequent shoplifters so acting as a deterant while picking up a butty.

I have booked my refs, drove to Tesco, purchased sarnies and ate in my 45 mins .... but the public come out with comments "is this what we pay our taxes for"........... we are human and we have to eat !!!

As Police we sometimes can't win whatever we do

Ohhh and any overtime we do, the first 1/2 hr is always UNPAID !! and it is a frequent occurancy.

Rant over ... off to find me sledge for my night shift tonight

Yes and not forgetting that the first half hour of overtime we work is for nothing. We don't get paid for it and it happens most shifts. Infact, I can't rememeber the last time I got away before the first half hour.

Plus, half the time most of us are in work at least 30 mins early...and end up having to go out to help a tax payer...

I have nothing but admiration for police officers and the job they do, even when they are sledging

Think youself lucky that you're still getting overtime a dangerous thing to post in these cash strapped times

I now have contracted hours my overtime disapeared over 15 years ago.

TBH I think emergency services deserve overtime more than anyone else. I'd be pretty gutted if I got stabbed to death on a shift (example) and I wasn't even getting paid for it.

have to say the job is not fun in this weather. I got stuck 4 times last night, went up a slight incline, stopped to do a job, got back in the car and oooooopps. Had to slide back down the hill to the bottom.

Thought it was hilarious tho as I wheel spun and snow covered my colleague standing behind he he he

I so wish I was more professional but I ain't ever gonna be .... oh well

I ain't ... overtime ban. Job is such that you can't just walk away tho and go home.
