Thanks Leebex, but I did the same! We now have 16 spare bolts between us

Just been out for a quick test ride. I'd say it's not night and day, it's not going to change your life, but it is worth the money and I'm glad I did it. Full throttle is (for me) now just about accessible without shifting the wrist where before it was just a bit further than I could twist. Having direct access to full throttle means it's more feasible to wring it in first, and I think I popped my first (tiny) power wheelie as a result It turns out it's not easy to use full throttle very much on the road - in 1st, the redline hits you before you know it, you're through 2nd pretty quickly too; gas it in 3rd and you'll be way above the speed limit in no time flat!
No stability or sticky throttle problems, and the switchover was pretty easy too - just adjust the cables all the way out to make it easier to get them in, and watch out for those bar end screws!

Have you done the ignition retard mod as well?

I haven't, I've read conflicting reports as to whether it's worth it. I think it's dependent on the country the bike is sold in? Is it worth doing on UK spec carbureted SVs?

I see some folks over at SVrider jack up their tanks a touch to get more air into the box - is that a worthwhile mod too? I haven't touched the air filter at all yet, it's completely standard as far as I know; is a better filter worth having?

I'm not after extra HP really, certainly not at the expense of anything else (like reliability or low speed driveability), but if the bike's strangulated in any unnecessary ways I see no reason not to set her free

After the forks go on, I want to do the shock, gearing, get a scottoiler and probably some prophylactic mods to electrics before I'm finished...but that'll all have to wait til I get some cash

Ain't worth doing

Only mods worth doing for instant power gains are cams, air filter and a good exhaust.

The retard mod doesn't do anything

Yes, but you need to get an exhaust with larger dia header pipes, as this is what restricts the Sv I think?

If have a curvy then cheapest option is to buy some Pointy inlet cams for some more go go

As a follow on from NTECUk question, how can you tell if your carb has been rejetted for a slip on can (apart from taking carbs apart) is there a tell tale sign?
