If the car had been doing 30 . I believe he would be hear today .
We need to be responsible adults .
Are you saying the car should have been going slower or that Peter's mum should have supervised him from the same side of the road, being as he was only 7 years old.

Have you met a 7 year old or any child, life is not that simple which is why we have things like speed limits.

We are talking about 1967.
We had community then and one mum looking after 4 kids who are mates was ok then.
Nic's mum never forgave her self for it and was never the same.
He pulled out of her hand to show what he had one.
The car easy going way to fast .
Ok he likely would have still been badly her as the front of an old car was hard in toes days.
But the things is. Its some thing that still possible today.

Just my 2 cents...

I always stick to 30 or 40 limits. No point in not really and safer. However 50 and above limits generally I do what speed I deem fit for the circumstances and if I get caught hey ho, just not my day.

The issue is other road users do not look at different scenarios and act accordingly therefore speed limits are enforced. It maybe safe to do that speed but you can't have a system that works like that.

I would love no speed limits but a minimum of 15 years in jail for knocking someone over and causing gbh etc. You decide what speed is appropiate but there are bad consequences if you choose a speed thats not safe.

Will never work in real life but would be a better system if it could IMO.

Its others attitude to responsibility That need a tweek.
You can't trust kids to behave.simple.
Its unlikely that any ones a saint .I been cloberd speeding .
But Saying parents can edducate children to behave when crossing or are near roads is not allways going to work.
When you have kid's your find out

Little kids I can let off, my 3 year old nephew some of you met at AR. He's got his wheel along sportsbike and he knows to stay on the pavement but every so often he thinks he's doing MotoGP and I get scared he won't stop at the kerb in time despite me yelling at him. Or do what he did the other week when he toppled off into the road. Although he proudly showed me his scabs and told me he'd 'high sided really good'.

Then you have the idiot adults with their faces in their phones and their ipods on who step out in front of you without even looking up. But if you were to hit them despite it being their fault, if you were speeding the courts won't give you much sympathy.

Then you have the drunks - just ask Sergio (who you may also have met at AR) how not to get a taxi home on a Saturday night. By going through the windscreen after you have 6 pints then step into the road.
