I've had problems with the front nut on every sprocket set I've done, i use a old ratchet and scaffold pole and jump to van halen

Never had a problem doing them on any bike, if they've been correctly installed previously. All my SV's have been a doddle.

I think it all depends what the previous fool did when the last set was put on. The fact my bike has been low sided, was lubricated with glue and is having some engine trouble at 28k suggests it was serviced by some sort of court jester with kippers for hands. I don't anticipate the same level of tightness on Jammy's sprocket.

15K miles and i dont believe the sprockets/chain has ever been touched. But many parts on the bike have been serviced by an ape (me included) so we'll see.

Which nut is the offending one? is it just the one holding the front sprocket on? i'll make sure to attack it with shock fluid a few days prior

Yeah. Front sprocket under cover. I don't think it's generally corrosion or anything holding it on, just mega torque. Won't do any harm to lube her up though. Make sure it doesn't have locking tabs or anything though if you decide to try and loosen it up.
