Arent there laws to protect the amount of light you get into your property hence trees HAVE to be trimmed or cut back?
But certainly contact the council. Find out if hes just not able to trim it - but be prepared for aggro if thats the attitude you take with you. Be reasonable and he may surprise you. ![]() ![]() |

guys, i dont know if you noticed my earlier post, a ring around the bark, 1 cm deep, will kill the tree. Basically instantly.
We used this all the time. All the tubes provifing water / nutreints to the tree are aranged around the outside of the trunk. If you ring it, you cut all water, instantly. The tree will wither and die, and that will be that. Game over. |

![]() My father-in-law illegidly did a great job of killing huge conifers by exposing the roots & digging a load of copper sulphate around them... The tree was dead in a few days too ![]() |

I know this works with leylandi - dont ask how!
Dig a hole to expose a major root underground as close as possible to the main trunk. Drill a big hole into the root. Three quarters fill the hole with Sodium Chlorate. Hammer a wooden peg in to seal up the hole. repeat as many times as you can. Sit back an watch said tree become firewood. The main benefit over ringbarking is that all the "damage" is underground and on your property so it will be difficult if not impossible for him to prove anything. Good luck! You can buy sodium chlorate weed killers from garden centers etc. |
