Ah, that makes sense! Surprised it would cause that damage but it certainly explains it.

Glad u came out of it ok.....i went down on the same side of u but at 20 mph faster. R&G bolt snapped and i ended up with smashed fairings. Drilled my gear selector and reattached the rubber and it works fine

oops, just seen this, sorry to hear about it, at least you're in one piece

let me know if there is anything I can do

I 'bent' my R&G when I had my off in April - forced into the kerb at about 30mph by a white van

If the bung was the same width all the way down then it wouldn't have bent quite so much - on the other hand it might have snapped off like yours

I guess it depends on a number of factors as to whether it bends or snaps

Give Steve Jordans (in Great Bookham nr Boxhill) a call or Lamba (in Carshalton) if you need parts

If you can get a new lever, there will always be someone at Soho who can help you change it

As an aside, where were you doing the bikessafe course ?
I did mine out of the Ace cafe, and felt that the 'instructors' there almost had a book running between each other as to whether they would loose anybody - one of them had had 3 people go down at the same place

Bugger..right infront of the copper glad your ok.

I have also done the repair to the lever, done well it works fine. A new lever will cost over £35-£40 ish. Put a request in the stuff wanted section, I could have had a rearset and they only wanted £20 shame it wouldn't fit my nekkid bike (it was off an s)

Sorry to hear about your off.
Are your aches & pains getting better?
Seeing the photo of your tank, I was sure you had broken the lockstop, but carried on to read TSM's explanation. My bike (right side crash) had a bent bolt for the bar end (I hammered it straight and am still using it).
I had to replace my brake pedal and did steps 1 & 2 but found I needed a huge allen key for step 3 which I didn't have so I got my dealer to do it
If you dont pull the dent in your tank, I'm sure TSM has suggested a baglux tank cover.
Please keep us updated on your R&G's

Cheers everyone.

Yes TSM has explained whats happened. The bung in the end of the bars bent out and hit the tank.

Rang my local suzuki dealership and they want £42.23 for a new gear arm which i think is a bit steep. Going to try and do a bodge with a bolt either tonight or tomorrow, worse comes to worse and i some how mess it up it doesnt make a difference

Not having the best of times!

At least you and the bike can ride again!

You just need a bit more time to develop the 'spidey sense' that happens after someone tries to run over you for the 100th time.

DOH!!!

sorry to hear about your off dude. As least it was a slowish one, shouldnt take a lot to sort your bike out either. That dent in the tank should be able to be poped back out (i dont think the sv tank is double skined).
