MAybe i'm missing the point of a slipper clutch but surely fitting one will actually reduce the effect of engine braking as the slipper clutch will absorb some of the engine braking instead of tranferring all the engine braking to the rear wheel?

Well its in direct proportion to the ammount of grip the rear wheel has and also the adjustment of the slipper clutch.

That's totally and utterly incorrect. The amount of slip is proportional to the amount of back torque only.

Totaly incorrect, no, mabey written in not an exact way for you.

If the wheel is slipping realy easly, because of wet surface or gravel then its safe to asume that the back torque on the engine is less, as such the slipping effect of a slipper clutch will be less to non existant in proportion to the grip level. If its slipping on a dry road then the back torque will be more as there is more grip with the tyre to ground and the slipper clutch effect will be more. This the ammount of slip etc can be adjusted on the better slipper units.

That last bit of your post is the only one I agree with. If you think a slipper is what's stopping you changing gear quickly you just need to practise your downchanges more - blipping your throttle properly lets you chuck the clutch out just as quickly as as a slipper - the problem's in your head.
I assure you my friend that after way too many years of riding,(sh+t almost 30 years!) the problem is not in my head. It is not a problem anyway but rather a "circumstance". I also suggest that there is not too much wrong with my riding ability either. (Come and sit at El Madronal cafe on the Ronda Road one saturday morning and you will see that.

Perhaps it is you that needs a taste of the kind of swift riding I refer to before passing comment, and as wisely suggested by some, this kind of riding would maybe be better suited to the track.

Scooby Drew....No bait taken mate just a passing comment.

I have to say some of the comments in this thread,(including some of my own) have been bordering on comedy in themselves!
