I even had a conversation with him last week about getting some R&Gs fitted to save on his insurance claims but he concluded that they would look naff even though he's dropped it 4 times already.

I guess you deserve it when your first bike is a brand new GSX-R750, you end up under a car within 6 months, with permanent back damage. You then wait for 3 years without riding a bike and once you win the insurance claim you take the money and buy yourself another new GSX-R750.
Well that's one way of looking at it I suppose

It was a low speed drop at no more than 20mph coming into the main road from a side road in the rain, he spun the rear tire, the bike started to wobble and threw him off. His helmet hit the side of the pavement causing him to pass out. That was only a month ago and the insurance company nearly wrote it off but in the end they paid £3000 to get it fixed.

It was so windy on the Torpoint ferry this morning, I had to help paddle it across the Tamar - no really - single handed - and it was fully loaded - go on then, hit me in the stomach *tenses stomach muscles and becomes invincible to pain*

I'm with you on this Viney - i've ridden loads in very windy conditions and it really isn't that much of a problem. Funnily enough the worst place seems not to be at high speeds on open roads but actually in town (like riding along the Embankment in London) or while you're stopped (as per AlanSV)
Very true. Could cope with the A3 this morning but got the front wheel washed away from me on Whitehall

The M4 wasn't all that bad and the bridge was probably the easiest bit.

33mph average windspeed, gusting to 54mph. Nice & calm then compared to yesterday's 88mph gusts at Rhyl

Loads of trees down round here. Lots of roads closed on my way home from Staines last night, but honestly did not seem bad at all to me! must have missed all the fun.
