Well, my solution is useless if a pillion needs a seat so Nobby has the neatest solution if a rack "has" to be used.

nobby, is ur rack screwed into where the grabrail would be. i never use my rear seat, just the seat cowl, i wonder could one be fabricated to use with the motech rack.

I asked around at a few dealers if the Givi box would fit the Suzuki plate and the general opinion was that it is slightly different and not compatible. Admittedly all the answers were a bit vague so I thought, bugger it, do it myself and make a better job.

Yes - the rack has mounting points that bolt into the grab rail fixings.

Been thinking of getting a top box for a while but put off by the cost of the bloody things.
Just spotted the Tech 26 Litre Detachable top box in Crossans (all i can afford) and but i've never fitted a rack before and know nothing about doing it.
Do you guys reckon bolting it to the pillion seat would work?
It's the 4th item down, cheers...

I would imagine it would if the mounting holes on the rack are in numerous places.
If you do it, make sure that the bolts will not foul anything under the seat when it is put back on. I have shown a piccy of the underside of my seat but if yours is a curvy then it may be different.
Here's my pointy seat showing the four bolts.

Think i'll chance getting it, a very cheap solution if it works out.
Cheers...

I'm looking at a cross between Nobby and PG1's solutions; using the spare pillion seat for when it's just me on the bike and the swmotech rack when the gf is on the back. Anyone know if you can buy spare mounting plates for the E450N? Googling seems to just throw up the box including the mounting plate...

On a related note, has anyone used one of these:

on the SV650 with Givi panniers? Any comments/experiences?
