Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?
Swiping out of my job for the last time after 10 1/2 years.
SOTD: Swiping into a new site with a new employer on Monday morning, 1 mile from the house so no commute or fuel costs, paid 2p less per hr, fridays off... Nearly tempted to book myself + bike onto boat Friday morning Last edited by Chris_SVS; 31-08-18 at 02:11 PM. |

I find that quite funny. I imagine the caller trying to ask for the food (with Indian names) and getting upset because the Indian guy doesn't understand |

Our takeaway is cash only. Probably trying to avoid all the charges of running the card machine.

More like to avoid an audit trail of card payments, to avoid having to pay VAT on sales to HMRC. Cash is king

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?
A lot of smaller food businesses like chip shops, Chinese and indian takeaways work on cash payments - as maviczap says most likely to avoid vat and audit trail, can't blame them and as long as it keeps prices down ........ if Amazon can get away with paying 0.1% tax who can blame the small guys..

Yep. Had a Chinese tonight and there was a sign in the window stating cash only now, They have solved the language problem by employing a succession of young English girls from the local High School.

I did a very similar thing, not long after I passed my driving test 14 years ago or so, I got a job doing delivery for a local Chinese takeaway. They only took cash too, but that is a few years ago now.....
