Re: Vintage film cameras
Meadowhall in Sheffield. How much was the Contessa? Most of them seem to have fungus and sticky shutters, easy enough to do though and can get around £25 when sorted.

Re: Vintage film cameras
£8 but I couldn't be bothered. Body was mint though, even had a case. A seller I have seen at various sales still has the Minolta up for sale.

Re: Vintage film cameras
I did save this Butcher Carbine 122 roll film camera from the boot sale. Seller didn't know how to fold it so while showing the man ahead of me what to do bent the struts. The bellows are holed but I wanted to save it. Think 6x9 folder but MUCH bigger.

Re: Vintage film cameras
Yoko, what's better? Minolta X500 or X700?

Re: Vintage film cameras
Debatable! Both are good and I like the 700 a lot. The 500 doesn't have the program mode but there's more info in the viewfinder display. It shows the shutter speed chosen by the meter and also the shutter speed set on the camera. X700 doesn't show the latter. I think that's the main difference. Body and controls are pretty much the same.

Re: Vintage film cameras
You just need to make some more film Kenzie! Had a bit more of a go at the Durst, it is pretty much finished. Collimated the lens, more fiddling for that, there is a detent at 3m/10ft and the distance is painted red, think it must be hyperfocal distance i.e. leaving it there for snap shots. Need to adjust the focus and RF on the Super Fujica, and clean the windows a bit, will wait until I have plenty of time to figure it out.

Re: Vintage film cameras
I need to have a look at spools but tbh the bellow are so shot that it might not work anyway. I would like a working Certo at some point, but they don't come up very often. I need a PC before I go spending too much on cameras anyway, otherwise I have no way of scanning!

Re: Vintage film cameras
A way back I picked up another Certo, with rangefinder, it's rough as a bag of spanners though. The eyepiece lens is missing from either the RF or VF, I'll see if I can Frankenstein something in there to make it work again. I think it'll all work okay, cosmetics are pretty bad! It's on the pile, but a long way down. I just took it because they come up so rarely. That and it probably had some other bits with it, I can't remember.

Re: Vintage film cameras
Well I have a load of spares kicking around that may be of use to you? That Certo Super Dollina has dropped to £21 plus £10 postage.

Re: Vintage film cameras
I've literally got a bag of scrappers of all sorts, so I'm hoping to find something in one of those - will give you a shout otherwise, ta.
