Re: What have you tinkered with today?
Thought the bike felt a bit sticky when pushing/at standstill. No sign of hot discs but decided to go for a full caliper strip and clean. What a ball ache of a job. Always takes longer than expected and always involves some idiocy from me. That said, once it was all back together I was alarmed by how bad it must have been before (can't understand how the rotors weren't cooking). Just wish my new pads had arrived in time to fit at the same time as I'm waaay past the wear limits.
Oh, oil and filter change done too. Just realised I've left all my oily trays, funnels etc sitting in the garage. Meh, manyana...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?
I need to replace a couple of broken fence posts. The auger is fine in new installations but I've got to break up the concrete supports first.

Re: What have you tinkered with today?
Yes, I had that job to do first before using the auger. I have got one of those combi drill/breakers from screwfix which has been invaluable on so many jobs. Just big and powerful enough to break up the concrete.

Re: What have you tinkered with today?
I may just have the same one. SDS jobbie that has just enough weight to get through Postcrete. Very, very useful as the chap we bought the house from was not very good at digging neat post holes and I often have lots to break up when replacing things.

Re: What have you tinkered with today?
I might have to look into getting one of those. It might be cheaper than hiring one.

Re: What have you tinkered with today?
Went to the lock up to move the SV (I do it regular to save the tyres). Whilst there fitted the fairing lowers and bought the battery home for charging. Decided to get the old girl MOTed this year so booked in for Saturday.

Re: What have you tinkered with today?
You can get post repair anchors. You just bash them in between the old post remains and the concrete, then attach the new post to the top like any other anchor. Might save some effort.

Re: What have you tinkered with today?
Yep. I've tried them in the past. I found they always go in wonky or they don't hold the post tight enough. Thanks for the thought though.
