Not being thought of as an American might be the best compliment I've had all day. LOL I'm in Gretna, Virginia, US. Just a bit north of the North Carolina border.

Personally I think liberals are permanently mentally aberrated ( if that is a proper word).

That description of liberal is not one I recognise from the reaction of many 'liberals' to the views of other people when they don't coincide with their views - in fact I think liberal and democracy may very well be antonyms.

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?
I'm getting sick of my Galaxy S8. It just does whatever it wants. It turns the wifi off, it turns location services off, it turns bluetooth off. Even when location is on it never updates so when I'm at home I have to keep putting in my passcode to unlock it, even though it is set to be always unlocked at home. It never syncs emails so I never know when I get any. Sometimes it decides to just not make a notification sound when I get a whatsapp message. Now it's developed the wifi glitch where it can't connect and keeps saying 'Authentication Error'. This glitch has been happening to people for over a year and they still haven't bothered to fix it. I'm never getting another samsung again

There's a Gretna in Scotland, just north of the England / Scotland border. You might have given them just cause for another rebellion !

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?
the BBC. i pay a tv licence so that should qualify me for logging into BBC online stuff like iplayer. why do i need to give them my life story when i have a licence which has a number. why cant they make it fairer and only let people who pay a licence fee watch BBC online services. now that the BBC are rolled out digitally then it would be easy enough to use the same licence number to be able to watch terrestrial BBC. no licence then no BBC on your telly.
yes i know my licence is only for the privilege to have a tv that receives signals and digital content (as such) but the BBC are funded from the revenue. the tv licence is a stealth tax, nothing more nothing less. what do they actually do with the rest of the revenue that they dont give to the BBC? |

To put that into context, that's well north of £10million per day. Are they actually worth that, considering the radio channels can't really cost much to run and many progs are repeats etc.? I suppose if they decide to give the presenters stupid amounts then you can see where it all goes. From Google search BBC pay: The 2017-18 list of star salaries in full Gary Lineker - £1,750,000-£1,759,999. Chris Evans - £1,660,000-£1,669,999. Graham Norton - £600,000-£609,999. Steve Wright - £550,000-£559,999. Huw Edwards - £520,000-£529,999. Jeremy Vine - £440,000-£449,999. Nicky Campbell - £410,000-£419,999. Alan Shearer - £410,000-£419,999.
