Most trackday insurance policies are limited to injury and third-party liability only. I see MCE do offer a policy, but at £99 per day it almost doubles the cost of the trackday and the excess is 50% of the insured value.

I try to take the precaution of simply not crashing.

I was having a read on some breakdown cover policies and they say that recovery is not covered when the vehicle is being raced, being used to race or for practice for such events. Does that mean track days are excluded?

It means exactly that. Don't expect the likes of the AA to collect your bike from a track if you crash it. This is one of the reasons people take road-legal bikes in vans or on trailers.

There have been plenty of tales of people crashing their bike at a trackday, pushing it off the circuit and to the nearest roundabout, and phoning recovery under the pretence they crashed on the road. It's simpler to just hire a van for the day.

Worst case, there is usually a place at the track where they could keep a trashed bike for collection later, as per my mate at cadwell last year!

Its good to ask questions but don't let it be a daunting thing, its so much more fun than riding on the road (In my opinion) no need to worry about anything except improving your riding and feeling like your the next Rossi!

Awesome fun!!

It's when u get wound up by other track users either for a dodgy overtake they put on u OR even just that someone on the exact same bike has just flashed by and u suddenly think you must be able to catch up and start riding beyond your own limits. Or its my username that I created 10 years ago on another forum and used it everywhere since!

That's a bit steep. I pay 40 quid a day, less if I'm doing back-to-back days.

Ok, so I took the liberty to compile all the data that members have so helpfully offered and have edited it to be as concise as possible. If anyone would like to add to that list, let me know and I'll slap it on! List follows:
