My Northwest. What is frightening is that you will see parts of yorkshire are actually closer to the North West coastline line than Manchester is. And even I would never claim the land of the tyke was the North West.

Re: Name for the North Wales / Cheshire / Shropshire group
Look we could debate exactly what the term "North West" means until the cows come home - different organisations use the term to cover different geographical areas (for instance, the Granada TV region - which is a North West TV region, actually covers North Wales).
If we wanted to be so precise in the group name then it would probably be called "The North Wales, Cheshire, Merseyside, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Manchester, Lancashire, West Yorkshire, Cumbria and Plowsie Group". Bit too much of a mouthful (not to mention kudos to Plowsie ) LOL What we want is to call ourselves something that is fairly short, has at least SOME meaning to it and since most of the people live "roughly" in the North West, I personally can't see a problem with the name involving North West. So please can we drop the "North West" debate, and actually come up with a name? Pete p.s. Tim if you want to be really offended, try living on the Wirral where everyone outside the UK (and indeed a lot of people IN the UK) thinks you're a scouser (because it's so close to Liverpool), and everyone in Liverpool thinks you're a stuck-up tw*t because of the whole Cheshire/Merseyside debate |

The arguement about it not being the northwest is boring and meaningless lets get on and get the name sorted without taking any notice of anyone who is trying to derail us!! P.s if northwest tonight say its the northwest then it is |

Re: Name for the North Wales / Cheshire / Shropshire group
Note! Check the map by Baph on the other thread, this group will NOT cover manchester, lancashire, cumbria or West yorkshire. That is covered by the Penine Massive group. We are not in the business of 'stealing' territory form other groupings.
Of course members of those other groups are welcome to post / join us for events etc, just as I have been priviledged to be part of thier groups from time to time. FFFS we are all meant to be mates! So stop this pointless bickering and lets have decent suggestions for a name. There's been a couple of good ones so far. |

Re: Name for the North Wales / Cheshire / Shropshire group
I think we have had enough time now to think of some names, so how about we throw some of the better one on to this here thread and we can run a poll later

Something to do with the borderlands or marches or all those castles you get in your area from north wales then on down. Your section would even pick up people Hereford way, woudlnt it?
