My experience of the noise is a definate whine. like i said before most noticeable at 25-35 in 3rd but there constsnt. same speed in 2 or 4 and noise hardly noticeable. sometimes a bump in the road will change the pitch of it, similar to playing on the clutch. touch wood seems to be running fine. the bike had been sat around for ages about a year. changed the oil and filter but never flushed the engine. just can't imagine would make that much difference but hey wat do i know

Now to further confuse/complicate things we've had the bike on some paddock stands and done some testing. we put the bike in 1 2 and 3 gear and in each took it up to a max 4k revs. now although there was a certain amount of noise the 'whine' that is driving me mad was not there, or at least no where near as bad.

Driveline somewhere then. There's no load on the system when its on stands so less noise, try the same thing with the back brake on and it may reappear (don't hold it on for too long like)

The clutch, primary drive, gearbox, final drive.
IMO have a prod around with a screwdriver on your ear with the bike running on the stand and a little back brake held on to see if you can narrow it down. [mother mode] mind the chain, they'll remove fingers in a heartbeat [/mother mode]

I didn't notice it, but I was flushing the engine at the time so wasn't revving it.

How l;ong you been riding it since you put it back on the road? Most things go away after a few miles of riding it. The Falco when I got it wasnt running particularly brilliant but now that ive put 2000 miles on her she is running fine. I really wouldnt worry too mu8ch about it. Get out and ride it like a big girl
