Expect most of the ' improvements ' are in the maker's blurb & will be unmeasurable on the road by mere mortals - but I hope not.

I really wish they hadn't changed the name.

If you want to watch the worst 6 minutes 34 seconds of your life though, really doesn't bode well for the gladius's image "I'm a rock chick in a hard rock world". Not fond of that bench seat either, altohugh I wouldn't mind plonking the gladius' headlight on my naked
FFS.
+ bird is quite tasty
- you're a spacker to wear an open faced lid, tasty or not.
- Where's the attitude? It's supposed to be a bike advert... pop some wheelies and back it in and stuff.
- bike looks $hit, sounds worse.
Generally it gives you the gist that if you spend your nights alone, wake up and ride sensibly to a pretentiously posh party to chase aforementioned bird, who while fit will turn out to be utterly disappointing in lack of filthy traits, to a soundtrack of utterly sh1te pop-rock. The gladys could be the bike for you.

Overall 1/10. Very poor.

How it should be done.

They appear to be the same twin-pot sliding calipers.

Forks look the same as pointy ones, I do not expect major differences (like cartridges) and that is main limit of the stock brakes.

Yes, the Gladius is the 3d gen SV. Same engine, suspension, and brakes; different frame, seat, rearsets, exhaust, bars, lights, gauges, and mirrors. Just like the differences between the first and second gens. Further proof: The Gladius replaces the naked SV in Suzuki's model range (at least, in the US).

Yes, we should welcome Gladius owners as part of the family.

No, the "Yanks" don't seem to like it (but I do).

But it isn't, it doesn't carry the SV name and is similar to the DL650. The Gladius has evolved from the SV, and it only replaces the SV650N not the SV650S around the world.

We can't say it isn't welcome on here, if we did then we might as well say goodbye to the other members who have moved to other bikes or who have modified/tuned there bikes far from the standard SV650.

To quote the work of a famous Brit: "What's in a name?" If Suzuki had named the 2003-2008 SV650 the Suzuki "Pointy Twin," instead, would it be any less a second gen SV?

If the name is that important to you, the Gladius retains the "S" and "V" designations in its formal name -- SFV650. The Gladius name is just marketing. Is the sixth generation VFR any less a Viffer, because Honda decided to market the bike only by the name "Interceptor"?

I can't see how the Gladius is similar to a DL. It's nothing like a DL.

As far as replacing the SVS, wait for it....

Same engine, a couple of shared parts here and there and both have different names.

^^^Well, yes. Of course, same engine between SV and DL. I'm talking about market niche, product concept, purpose, etc. SV and DL are not alike.

The Gladius and the SV naked are meant to do the same thing. In fact, you could argue that the Gladius is closer in concept to the original SV than the second gen was. The first gen SV naked was meant as a Japanese version of the then-model Ducati Monster. The second gen SV got away from this a bit. Now, look at the Gladius, and look at the current model Ducati Monster, and tell me what you think.

That could never have aired in the uk. Not with their wipe the viewers árse mentality. Where they sensor the word 'ammunition' and make presentors apologies for mentioning concentration camps.
