All good advice but one thing I will say is do not worry about wildlife on the roads, being aware they may be something is one thing, worrying about it will not help you at all. Most of the bigger stuff doesn't wander onto roads at night, more chance at dawn or dusk. If you do your first run on the A1 then chances are you wont see anything, just enjoy the run
