Done about 4 or five missions now. The first one was pretty basic yet also quite hard if you choose to try and do all of the secondary objectives. After the next batch of missions I quickly realised that I was bored. Most games get more exciting as you progress, this one just sends you on yet another tedious mission following waypoints and running into groups of hostiles. It's also got a really, really bad checkpoint system. In the first mission I decided to tackle the secondary objectives or destroying 2 sam sites and a sunburn missile truck. I did the first sam site at the lighthouse and then travelled all the way and managed to do the sunburn truck only I got killed exfiltrating from that area. I was horrified to see that the 'save' system placed me back about 35 mins worth of play before I'd even destroyed the firs sam site. What a pile of absolute tosh. To be honest it doesn't even look that good. I would say it looks a worse than battlefield bad company which is well over a year old now. Shocking game, poorly thought out and just plain tedious and annoying. Save your money.

well, there are no check points in war, it makes OPF1/2 a 'tense' game, but if you are not into war sim then it translates as 'frustration'.

surely if tactics is sound your mission should go well, then again no battle plan every goes to plan on contact

There is also no menu system, AI or multiplayer. It's a game mate, wether it's a realistic sim or an arcade game it should be enjoyable and it just isn't. The checkpoint wouldn't be a huge problem provided you can save your progress when you want to, which you can't. It should be fun, sim or not. Bring back ghost recon (and I don't mean the shoddy console games) they were awesome on the pc. A shoddy console game in my opinion and there are many games which are better. Full Spectrum Warrior is so far ahead of this game and how old is that??

I know... PC rules for games, I just don't have one that can handle good games

so I have to make the most of console (you kinda get use to the short comings of a console game)

seconded.

Bad company 2 looks like lots of fun, blow the hell out of everything...much like the current bad company, but more of it March 2010 that comes out

I derive satisfaction by driving through a building, running over n00bs along the way...you cant do this in operation flashpoint

OFP had just checkpoints, and you could save ONCE per mission (which would inevitably be 30 seconds before the checkpoint was triggered).

Tactics being sound does NOT mean there won't be the random bullet, buggy death or psychic AI.

OPF is clearly not your game if you like to play 'team America' style! You need patient of a ninja to play OPF!

i think the problem here is people are buying it thinking it's a run n gun game for any old numb nut's no it's a tactic's game like the first one was i played opf1/arma 2 and this stand's up really well to both and is on a console to boot which is even more impressive.

I was praying for a tactics game and it's just pants. Avoid and save yourself £40. At the end of the day a tactical game can still be frantic and fun, it doens't have to be tedious like this one is.
