Noise from a neighbour is to be expected, as long as it isn't late into the evening, and ALL the time, then there's not too much to moan about.

I remember having a couple of sherberts, and putting a 4ft mirror up on a Saturday night, while Kate was out in town. I remember looking at the clock once I'd finished drilling the walls, to discover it was 11.30! lol, oops! I had no complaints from the neighbours, who were up the next morning having a full blown argument at 7.30! It's part and parcel of living next door to someone.

i had a friend many years ago while i was at college, who used to play his drums in his bedroom, and we used to wail our guitars along,

we would normally stop about 7ish in the evening.

his next door neighbour made a complaint to the council once, and they sent some people round to check out how much noise we were making.

they went into the neighbours house with a bit of kit, to test noise levels,
and got us to play as loud as we usually do,

turns out that we posed no threat, and we could go a bit louder if we liked, and we could play at that level up until 2230 if we liked.

not trying to suggest that u should try this approach though ;o)
